Tool Recommendations for Independent Game Developers

OpenTrek was developed on weekends and after work by a haggard programmer with little free time and even less artistic ability.

The following tools allowed me to finish OpenTrek in just a few months without breaking my pocketbook:

Nendo - an inexpensive, intuitive 3d modeling package from Nichimen Software.
GoldWave - a cool little sound editor, available at www.goldwave.com.
PaintShop Pro - Poor man's Photoshop, available at www.jasc.com.
Install-US - a good InstallShield clone, available at www.install-us.com.
WinZip - natch...www.winzip.com.
Universe - a paint program for drawing star fields, nebulae and other cosmic structures, available at www.diardsoftware.com.
